Finding the Right Light for Your Dining Area

Dining rooms used to feature one kind of chandelier: one with intricate branches and tons of dangling crystals. But these days, homeowners’ tastes have changed. Chandeliers still offer the perfect lighting for a dining space, but there’s a huge variety of chandeliers available to help you find one that suits your style and your budget. Freshome recently posted a how-to for choosing your dining room’s chandelier. Here are a couple of the tips we found most helpful:

  • First of all, consider your design style. Try an ornate chandelier for a more traditional look. Or, if you’re looking for something more casual, consider hanging lighting with a fabric shade.
  • Try a sculptural-looking chandelier that works as functional lighting and a beautiful focal point. Anything goes with chandeliers these days, so don’t be afraid to bring in a unique piece.
